The Real Direction of Drones Overhead

Higher and higher, smarter and smarter and with better eyes than any eagle could ever evolve. I’ve been talking about drones for private use for a while now. Well, here is some information about government drones and your privacy. Keep in mind while looking at this information, that the technology discussed is already in use, with the distinct possibility of having already been replaced with superior equipment. The advancement of technology knows no end point.

Here are some links I

Home Invasion - Some Thoughts

Someone looking to invade an occupied home is not likely to spend a lot of time breaking in. They will kick in a door or use a breaching tool of some sort, or crash a window or sliding glass door. But in the reports I’ve read about break-ins in my surrounding areas, most of these things are done via the front door.

I was thinking about the heavy security “screen doors”. They will slow down some, but with the right

Silencing a Cheap Noisey Generator

Pulled from a post on a forum, and cleaned up for usage here.

Your generator can give away your state of preparedness to lots of people at just the wrong time. When they want power, and you announce that you have it, there can be conflict. To keep it and your other supplies from being “borrowed”, you need to keep it quiet enough so that only the closest people can hear it. If you can do better than that, great!

Facebook Profiles and Security

Made a new friend on FB in the last few days, who has expressed to me issues regarding privacy and security.

My dear wife is an “expert” on FB security. She does the research and tunes her accounts well. I follow suit, mostly, and have things fairly well locked-down for my private page, but wide open for the public page.

What I will suggest for people with privacy concerns are these: Either learn to lock it down to your satisfaction,

Home and Retreat Video Security

Video Security

Part of establishing security for your home or retreat is the creation of a system of early warning. Early warning systems may include any method of raising an alarm when predefined boundaries have been reached by those looking to gain access to restricted areas. The early warning system is part of a larger security methodology. From a hidden or blended location, to a measured response, your methods must be part of an integrated whole.

Basic security setups might

Doomsday Preppers Came a Callin'

Prepeprs? Or nut jobs?

Just received an invitation to interview for possible inclusion in Doomsday Prepper’s – Season 2. I guess the casting director didn’t read this here blog. I explained to him how and why I can not participate, and thanked him for his interest. I won’t pass on his e-mail or phone number… if you want to be on the show, there are various venues for that. If you’re on the web at all, and have some

Google Maps a New Road - OFF Road

Yes, Google is touted today as taking its StreetView ™ tech down a new path. The newest in their line of photographic recording equipment is a back pack. This new get up will weigh about 40lbs, and allow its operator to record images where cars and planes can not do the job.

Off road mappers will try to capture as much information as possible. This means that your retreat, cabin, homestead, farm, ranch etc…. is now in the camera’s cross

Detailed 3D Mapping on the Horizon

Google’s Street View efforts caused all kinds of issues with people claiming privacy violations. While some of the pics are pixelated to reduce the chances of any one person or vehicle being recognized, the concerns are not over. Apple and Google are now in competition. Both are working to increase the data available to viewers of their 3D services. That’s right. Apple is now in the mix. Two of the world’s most powerful consumer information technology companies are in competition

Old Enemies & New Threats

Your past can return to haunt you, or worse.

From the mind of Hollywood, we are told stories about the avenging bad guy, the victorious hero, and good endings in just about all of them. Sometimes the ending isn’t so good. Sometimes, Hollywood can not compare to the real world. The stories Hollywood tells are produced for the widest possible audience to take in and “own” within their minds. The stories that life produces are much too often told by

Profiling

It was just a short time after the September 11 attacks. I was flying out to see my dad. My flight was due to come in and pick us up at the end of this particular terminal. I arrived early. At the end of the walkway was a payphone. I called my wife to let her know I was at the gate, and to chit chat a short bit before the boarding.

As I looked over to my left, at
