EMP Methods and Preps – Part II

In the first two parts of this series, I laid out why I believe the threat of an EMP attack on the United States is both possible, and feasible. The returns to the attacker far outweigh his investment in time, technology and the sacrifices among his personnel. I described how certain advances in technology and materials allow attackers to

Marksmanship Training Video - WWII

The Appleseed Project seeks to educate everyday Americans in the art of marksmanship – the goal being to produce “riflemen” in the classic sense. Methods and tests are based on US Army training and qualification tests. Anyone who has attended an Appleseed course will recognize immediately the principles taught in these training videos from WWII. The techniques taught are still valid. There are a good two hours of instruction here. The quality of the video isn’t top notch, but it

List of NBC Shelter Builders

There is a definite increase in interest for bomb /fallout /blast /weather /bio-chem attack shelters this last year. Doomsday Bunkers helped raise general awareness among the average Joe and Jane. Prepper interest, though, seems to have leaped from “I’d like to….” to “Maybe we can sell off a few things and get on board. People are concerned with various scenarios, and bunkers (underground shelters) can reduce or eliminate the effects of these.

A Reply to a YouTube Series of Vids

A reply to a series of videos from a YouTube user by the name of StankMouthCharlie.

Stank Mouth posted a quartet of videos with the title “Why Most Doomsday Preppers Will Die.” They can be found here:

In Charlie’s series, he covers a number of issues relating to the foolishness of prepper stockpiling, training, bugging in or out, marksmanship, manliness, shelters and retreats – all in the face of predatory “gangs” or “posses” with skills and

Government Assisted Identity Theft

As if hacked government databases haven’t already place our personal information at risk, here is news of another problem that promises to be the biggest yet.

The information database necessary for the Health Care exchanges to operate has NOT passed security testing. It will be the world’s largest and most complete storehouse of personal information ever. It will be the target of hackers large and small, government and geek, and the attacks will be round the clock.

Our people can’t

Quad Copter Project

A colleague at work builds multi-rotor copters. His latest creations utilize 4 rotors, carry cameras, and dive into the ocean. Well, that last bit about the ocean was an impromptu trick his tri-copter attempted. The up-side-down video from under water, of him approaching and retrieving the thing from a tidal pool, was hilarious.

I used to build R/C ships. Taking a plan drawing and converting it into production schematics was something I liked to do. With the interesting things builders

Home Security

One of the upgrades done to a home in order to make it more secure is the double-sided steel door, or steel clad door. They can be plain or decorative, but each is a steel shell with a hard foam or wooden core. They take quite a beating from hammers and saws, and make it hard for the average criminal to gain entrance.

With advanced criminals learning to take advantage of police-styled “dynamic entry” methods and tools, it is worth

Monkey See – Monkey Do

Police raids are in the news more and more for their violence, lack of care for those being raided, dog killings – and all of these no-knock raids appear to be fashion shows for the latest military sales to police departments across the land. It’s as if the best stories of abuse are justification for greater efforts at the same.

One does bad, gets away with it – and another seeks to top it.

Criminals conducting home invasions also are

Ironman and the Swarming Suits

Ironman 3 was entertaining on a few points. Who would have expected Ben Kingsley?

SPOILER ALERT

Toward the end, there is a scene (spoiler alert……) where we see multiple Ironman suits flying without a human encased within. They are under Jarvis’ control at the behest of Stark. They undergo dramatic offensive attack maneuvers to defeat multiple enemies. Jarvis does a great job of commanding the effort, under the management of Stark himself.

Back in 1983, Roy Scheider starred in a
